Our first round of matches were mostly completed on Sunday, 3
postponements aside it going fairly well though some new clans and
even old clans were a bit unprepared, particularly on the Punkbuster
side of things. Still, it didn't delay us too much and most teams
were willing to give their opponents a break when one was required.
I've looked over the demos and posted them all up in the section
accessed from the menu on the left, whilst my take on what I saw is
now available for you to read:
A couple of cheat related items to remind clans of before the new
season begins.
First of all I would like to remind all participants that “ninja”
scripts are banned in this league. If any team or admin notices the
use of such scripts and this is confirmed through our Punkbuster
server logs then players & teams face being penalised – be
it in terms of defaults or other sanctions.
If you're unsure whether or not you might have such a script in
your config files just have a look for any kind of line where
cl_yawspeed is set to a really high value (20000 or more).
Also it is worth reminding all clans that we use an older version
of Punkbuster in this competition. We took this decision a couple of
seasons ago due to issues that a Summer release of the PB software
caused for users of certain setups.
Should you not have this older version of Punkbuster then it's not
too difficult to get the required files. Simply join an XS4ALL server
(or the league server given below), set pb_security 0 and stay as a
spec. Eventually you should receive the older PB files.
To aid in this process you can also login to 213.208.119.133:27985
, password ctf , to ensure you're updated rather than leaving it
until your server is called in IRC.
When on the server and in the game a pb_ver should return v1.218 |
A1353 which means you're on the right version.
My preview of Season 27 has been completed and posted in the
Coverage section for your digestion.
As usual the preview contains a few short words on the league, a
clan by clan profile, some thoughts on the fixtures and my
predictions for the stand-out performers and final standings. It is
of course split into three parts as follows:
Due to an unfortunate problem with the Jolt email server people
trying to contact me regarding the league might be experiencing
difficulties. As such I would like to ask that if you need to make
player changes, fixture queries or have anything else you need me for
then the best email to use at the moment is joltbigfoot@ntlworld.com
. The problems should be cleared up in the next 24-48 hours and you
can of course contact me through IRC aswell – the league
channel being #joltq3ctfl .
The divisions, clanlists, tables and fixtures for Season 27 are
now live.
We begin this coming Sunday, the 11th of May, with the usual
divisional layout as follows:
Division 1 - 7.30pm UK time (British Summer Time) Division 2 -
6.30pm UK time (BST) Division 3 - 8.30pm UK time (BST) Division
4 - 9.30pm UK time (BST)
The map rotation remains the same as last season so it should all
be very familiar to all.
I would ask at this point that all participants check that your
division is suitable and also ensure your player list is accurate. We
have several new teams joining us this season so there may have been
removals from certain lists without your knowledge if a new side
claimed a player was going to play for them. If you have any queries
please contact me, it is worth mentioning that the divisions may be a
little unusual as a number of sides have dropped from the upper
levels, or teams around Division 3 have pumped up their rosters which
has resulted in them staying up or indeed being moved to Division 2.
As usual at this point I would like to advertise for help with
adminning in the league. We have an excellent team that have ensured
the league's high standards during the years, but we can always do
with more match admins to help share the load. With static servers
and set match times adminning in the league is very straightforward,
takes an hour of your time for every match you admin and helps us
keep this fantastic competition going. For more details feel free to
contact myself or point
members of your team in my direction and remember that without admins
we wouldn't have the demos each week to produce the weekly reviews
that are an integral part of the league's coverage.
We will of course endeavour to bring you GTV, scorebots, demos,
weekly reviews and if possible Shoutcasting, kicking off the coverage
with the seasonal preview that will be up on this site towards the
end of this week. It's extremely helpful if you all ensure your
player lists are up to date in order to help me with providing an
accurate summary of your clan's changes during the off-season, so if
you happen to add or remove any players in the coming few days those
changes should all go through myself.
There are a couple of sides who I
think might want to take part that have yet to get in touch, plus I'm
not entirely sure about a couple of the above who have applied.
Still, we'll see how it shakes out in the next 48 hours or so.
I do however think it will be
impractical to start the season this coming Sunday, not just because
it's less than 7 days away now but also as it is a bank holiday in
the UK that weekend. We will therefore probably delay the start until
the 11th May.
Registrations for the new season are scheduled to close tonight
but as I've not received responses from a few of the usual
late-entering suspects I may extend this somewhat, thus perhaps
delaying the start of the new season by a week. But I'll confirm this
soon, in the next 24-48 hours.
Here's a list of the current teams that have applied to join, the
ones in bold being new sides:
As you can see missing are a whole
bunch of teams, such as 2eX, solaw, hb, A3 and 303. If you happen to
be in one of these clans and know for a fact that your side wishes to
take part then get your clan leader to contact me asap - or contact
me directly yourself.
