It's with sadness that I have to announce that the Jolt Q3CTF League is over for now – at least as we know it.

I've decided to take up a new challenge overseas and in doing so I will no longer be able to help with the league myself. Not only this but Jolt is being re-positioned by new owners OMAC to be the hub of their browser based games and the servers that have been generously provided over the years are in the process of being re-allocated to other areas.

The Admin team is currently discussing what to do with the league as some have expressed an interest in finding a new home. If you've any thoughts on this feel free to use the comments or pass them on to me via email and I'll forward them to the team.

It's been great to be involved with the league across the many homes it has had, going back to 1999 when signups first opened @ BarrysWorld. We've always had a strong reputation for the high standard of competition and attention given to clans at all levels of the tournament, priding ourselves on doing just as much for the teams in Division 4 as we did for those playing in Division 1.

I've had the pleasure of working along a number of fantastic volunteer admins and without their help none of this would ever have been possible. I thank them all for what they did for the competition and also would like to thank those of you who took part in the league and played your games in the right spirit.

It's the middle of Summer for most but already thoughts are turning towards a possible Season 28, starting in early September.

I've posted a thread on the Jolt forums to get some views on whether or not this would be a good start date, along with any suggestions for what you'd like to see in the new campaign. I figured it would be better to have the discussion there as opposed to in the slightly clunky comments section of the news.

You can find the thread here.

Season 27 may be bit a dim and distant memory for some but I've finally managed to put together the review of our most recent campaign, all be it a month or so since my last of the weekly reviews went live.

A lot has happened since then, not least the fact that Jolt has been bought by OMAC Industries, a company aimed mainly at on-line browser-based games. What this means for the future of the league is unclear but it is fair to say that as one of the most active competitions and communities on the Jolt network we should be able to continue running for the foreseeable future.

As far as future seasons go it is unrealistic to start sign ups for a new season at this point, but we may be running a cup during August, this depending on the response I get from my mailshot to the clan leaders. I'm going to be quite busy with the GameSafe tournaments you'll be seeing advertised on this site so my time for the league will be restricted for the next few weeks certainly.

For now you can catch yourselves up with my thoughts on what was largely a very enjoyable Season 27. As usual the review features a variety of stats, my thoughts on certain aspects of the season, clan-by-clan reviews, MVP Awards and the top scorers for each division. It's split up as follows:

Enjoy and I wish you all a good Summer break.

As usual I've wrapped up the Week 5 action, what there was of it with Euro 2008 wreaking havoc, and included some final season stats in the mix:

Enjoy and remember that a full End of Season Review will follow, along with new regarding our plans for the next couple of months.

As it turned out Week 4 was our busiest evening for some time with 15 matches taking place, making for quite a lot of demos to look over. The dust has now settled and as we turn our attention towards the final round of fixtures the review of Week 4 features a look at the various permutations that the Week 5 results could bring, along with my predictions as to how the matches will go and who will finish where in the table. You can find all that here:

I hope you find it a good read.

On a related note we're aware that Euro 2008 is kicking off and that on Sunday Germany take on Poland. We can look at bringing matches forward or delaying them a little if that helps teams but we're not particualrly keen on postponing games as we want to avoid running a Week 6. That said there is a good chance some play-off matches will be required given the close nature of the divisions so it may be possible to re-arrange games for the following Sunday but we'll probably only extend this courtesy to clans with admins in them.

Congratulations to oMg, CoD and PROST who have won the Division 1, 3 & 4 titles respectively due to the way results worked out in Week 4.

There's still an awful lot to play for though as Week 5 will see the as yet undecided relegation issues settled, along with the Division 2 title and many other promotion issues. Not to mention the all-important Wooden Spoon!

A review of the Week 4 action – of which there was a lot with 15 full matches completed – along with a preview of the final night will be available later in the week.

A little bit earlier than last week, my review of Week 3's action is now on-line for you perusal.

Of course as we approach Week 4 there are a couple of things to note – the first being that we're unlikely to grant much in the way of postpone requests to avoid a huge backlog in Week 5. In addition to this there is a deadline for adding new players for this season, that is Sunday afternoon. Fishman may not be around this weekend until just before the matches begin so feel free to email me any player changes you need to make so we can give you an answer ahead of your game.

With it being the penultimate week it's also the case that some promotions and maybe even titles could be settled on Sunday. As a reminder if teams are tied on points the primary factor that decides their ranking is the result when they played. Captures don't come into it, so if Team A won the first map 3-1 and Team B won the second map 5-0 it would still count as a draw and a play-off will be required. It gets a bit more complicated when three teams are involved but that's something I'll examine further in the Week 4 Review. For now you can read over the Week 3 action here:

Enjoy and see you on Sunday!

With some 26 demos to look over the review of Week 2 has taken a little longer than I anticipated, but it's now available for you to have a read of as we head into the middle week of the season:

Enjoy and remember that whilst it is a Bank Holiday this weekend the league is scheduled to go ahead as normal.
